In recent years, Amazon introduced advertising platforms that changed that. After spending a long time in their own respective areas of expertise &#8211; search and shopping &#8211; it seems like Amazon&#8217;s foray into advertising has blurred the lines, and put the two titans into competition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.pureseo.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/google-marketing-live-shopping-goals-1024x650.jpg\" alt=\"Google Marketing Live 2019 &quot;new business goals&quot; \" class=\"wp-image-15277 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1024px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1024\/650;\" \/><figcaption> <br>Google made clear during Google Marketing Live that on-boarding new customers was a defined goal.  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Though experts are saying that Google may have left things too late to compete with Amazon in the Digital Shopping space. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/online-shoppers-rely-heavily-on-amazon-2019-3\/?utm_source=Triggermail&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Post+Blast+%28bii-e-commerce%29%3A+Google+Shopping+gets+major+overhaul+%7C+Alibaba+has+growth+concerns+as+trade+war+looms+%7C+Amazon+partners+with+stores+for+pickup+overseas&amp;utm_term=BII+List+E-Comm+ALL&amp;r=AU&amp;IR=T\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Currently, 66% of American consumers start their search for a new product on Amazon, and this number jumps to 74% if they already know what they are looking for<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To Google&#8217;s credit, all it takes is a few big customers to jump from one to the other to completely change the playing field. As an example, <a rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/amazons-rise-in-ad-searches-dents-googles-dominance-11554414575\" target=\"_blank\">WPP PLC switched several hundreds of millions of dollars from Google to Amazon last year<\/a>. Now, it\u2019s clear that they will appear in standard search results.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.pureseo.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image7-1024x439-1-1024x439.jpg\" alt=\"shopping actions\" class=\"wp-image-15279 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1024px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1024\/439;\" \/><figcaption>Shopping Actions could turn out to be instrumental in Google&#8217;s advance into Amazon&#8217;s territory. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This means merchants will be able to buy serve ads directly in Google Search results on Google Assistants or even in YouTube videos &#8211; but the kicker is that these ads will allow purchases to be made on the spot.  <br>If anything can help Google capture part of the market, it&#8217;s this; to allow users to purchase exactly what they are watching video content about, without stopping the video or navigating away.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If this YouTube integration works well, we can expect those predicting that Google is too late to the race to be wrong, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/04\/25\/amazons-advertising-sales-growth-slowed-dramatically-in-q1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">especially considering Amazon&#8217;s advertising growth has slowed this year.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<br>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Budget Sharing for Brands<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s well-established that global advertising builds interest in your brand if retail is your bread and butter. If you\u2019re trying to support your product as it sells through retailers on the other side of the world, this can get expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, you\u2019ll be able to directly support the campaigns of retailers who carry your stock.
