The results are in on Google Trends \u2013 and they may surprise you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among other things it seems that we, as a nation, struggle to cut mangos, have a hankering for vegan recipes, and collectively struggle to tell time (the question \u201c<em>what is the time<\/em>\u201d features as the 8th most popular \u2018<em>What is\u2026?<\/em>\u2019 search query). And it appears that people in the Hawke\u2019s Bay struggle at telling the time the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, what are 2018\u2019s most surprising searches, and what do they tell us about New Zealanders? Read on to find out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<br>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kiwis Love Their Sports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Is anyone surprised that Kiwis love their sports? Overall, some of the most popular searches were directly concerned with last year&#8217;s sporting events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order, these were the 2018 FIFA World Cup (the most popular search \u2013 even despite New Zealand not qualifying), the Commonwealth Games (3rd most popular) and the All Blacks vs France (10th most popular).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<br>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It&#8217;s Partly About The Politics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Jacinda Ardern remains popular \u2013 that much is obvious.
