Ever feel like your YouTube channel videos are getting lost in translation? It’s estimated that more than 60% of YouTube channel views come from outside of your home country. So would you like a more cost effective way of reaching those prospective international customers using one of their 75 other recognised languages?
It just got a lot easier – Youtube has now got you covered with the introduction of their new translation & subtitle service.
There are more than a billion Youtube users across the world, and it is estimated that two out of every three people who watch your channel may also speak a different language.
To ensure international viewers can discover, love & understand your content, Youtube has recently launched new translation features.
The new translation tools enable you to create titles and descriptions in as many as 76 languages, as well as subtitles for the video to help with the discovery of your content or channel.
According to Vladimir Vuskovic, product manager for YouTube Globalization, “countless videos that might have been relevant to viewers went unseen because of a search process that was limited to a single language.”
After recognising missed opportunities for a global audience, YouTube has been testing the new tools with a range of established clients and is already seeing success.
Since news & lifestyle website VICE trialed the new translation features it doubled its daily watch time from Portuguese & Spanish speakers. The translation option may be beneficial for emerging artists & brands, however, more importantly, the services are also a significant opportunity for growing YouTube’s overall audience.
Social media specialist, Daniel Aguayo at Digipendent Media believes the opportunities are immense.
“From a content creation aspect, the No. 1 growing video content creation sector is East Asia and Thailand…If you can translate Mandarin, Cambodian, Thai and different languages in the Indian dialect, that’s another three billion people nobody’s talking to because of the language barrier.”
That’s 3 billionnew prospects… Time to rethink your international strategy & opportunities on Youtube?
