Google My Business – The new tool to save you time

Google My Business is a new tool setting out to help small to medium businesses connect easily with their customers online.

It’s a simple tool whereby you can access all of your Google apps in one place. It runs like a one stop shop where you can access Google+, Insights, Reviews, Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Maps and you can even start a hangout. This range of information especially the integration with Maps can help customers locate local businesses and find directions easily.

We love this new tool because it’s solved that problem whereby some of Google’s services were fragmented and had no links between them (ie: Google+ existing pages not linking with Google Places). It’s a great fix for busy small business owners who can often feel the pressure of technology and get overwhelmed by the internet. The service is free and all pages owners have been upgraded to the new dashboard format.
Google has made this easy for you by allowing you to sign in once, this will then populate across the rest of your Google products. The ease of use has been said by Techcrunch to rival Facebook whereby you can post news, events, photos and any other updates that you want to share with your customers.
Along with this fantastic new tool, mobile users don’t miss out on the fun, with the launch of “Google My Business” app for mobile (released for Android with iOS due to come out soon). This gives you real time, easy access to your customers around the clock simply by opening the app on your phone. It’s a simple interface, and easy to use.

Google has of course said that utilising this service will have no effect on Google’s search results and rankings, it will have no “influence”.

This will definitely be an interesting space to watch as we have started to see the correlation between Google+1’s, social media shares and links between biased results when signed in to your Google apps. People in your circles tend to be pushed as being “more relevant” to you then other content that is anonymous to you.

This push from Google sends a clear messages that encourages business owners and brands to get involved in the Google community, share, grow and develop your brand presence. This is going to be increasingly important in the future, the bigger your community, the more you share and your followers share the more influence you could potentially have.
If you are new to Google you can start fresh and get the whole suite by going to Google My Business and pressing the “Get on Google” button.
