This Week in Search: Google My Business Lets Agencies Register Accounts, and More!

Pure SEO’s This Week In Search series takes a look at the top SEO and SEM news stories from the week.

This week, Google My Business released a new agency dashboard that lets business agencies register accounts for an unlimited number of locations, Google introduced a new ad type for people watching YouTube on TVs, Facebook introduced an Analytics app for iOS and Android, and Microsoft announced a new AI-powered marketing product: ‘Microsoft Audience Network’.

Google My Business Releases New Agency Dashboard

Google My Business is now letting agencies register multiple accounts with the newly-improved agency dashboard launch. The new agency dashboard allows registered agencies to manage an unlimited number of locations, with non-agency accounts still limited to 100 locations.

Within this new feature, businesses can create user groups that can manage internal teams and control access to locations. GMB also improved their search functionality to allow more efficient access to the different business locations.

Google Launching New YouTube Ad Type for TVs

According to Google, audiences are returning to the television set for watching videos, and they’re responding positively to ads on the TV screen.

Now, advertisers will be able to better reach this audience with Google’s recent introduction of a new YouTube ad type for YouTube audiences on TV screens. Google has now added the ‘TV screens’ device type for advertisers who want to target the YouTube audience that’s watching on TV.

Facebook Introduces New Analytics App for iOS and Android

Facebook’s first-ever analytics app, aptly called ‘Facebook Analytics’, is now available for download in the App Store and Google Play. This tool is incredibly useful for measuring a business’ Facebook page and providing insights on a business’ Facebook advertising efforts, on an accessible and user-friendly mobile interface.

Here’s how you can use the new Facebook Analytics App:

  • ‘Journeys’ reports a customer’s path to conversion.
  • Personalise your overview tab with crucial metrics.
  • Create dashboards with the reports you have saved on desktop.
  • Browse automated insights relevant to your business.
  • Get notifications about anomalies in your data.

Facebook stresses that all obtained information will remain anonymous and that the app does not contain any individually identifiable information such as emails and phone numbers.

Microsoft Launches New AI-Powered Marketing Product

Microsoft’s new AI-powered marketing product, the Microsoft Audience Network, was announced by Microsoft at the Global Bing Partner Summit.

This new technology offers “advanced audience targeting and brand safe native content placements” that spans the entire consumer journey within search, the web and in apps. These ads, powered by the Microsoft Graph, can be set up by using Bing Ads, Audience Ads search extensions or by setting up separate Audience Ad campaigns.

The Microsoft Audience Network is currently only available in the U.S., UK, Canada and Australia.
