This Week in Search: Explore Disney Theme Parks with Google Street View & More!

Pure SEO’s This Week In Search series takes a look at the top SEO and SEM news stories from the week.

This week Google has made waves: Google announced that all of Disney’s US theme parks are now available on Google Street View, released the Mobile Scorecard and a conversion Impact Calculator, and rolled out multifaceted featured snippets on the search results.

Disney Theme Parks Come to Google Maps

Google announced that all of the eleven Disney’s US theme parks can now be a part of your world with Google Street View. Virtually explore the different attractions, castles, and rides of the popular Disney parks. This is useful for those who want to see the park before deciding to go, as well as for those who want to preview new attractions.

Google Reinforces the Importance of Mobile Page Speed

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the massive search giant introduced the mobile Speed Scorecard and the Impact Calculator.

The Speed Scorecard is an easy-to-use tool that allows quick and easy comparison of your mobile page speed relative to other companies or competitors.  And it’s really powerful – it shows the speeds of thousands of sites from 12 countries around the world.

Google hopes to reinforce the fact that even optimising your mobile site to load one second faster can lead to an increase in conversions.

The complimentary Impact Calculator also seeks to do the same, although more directly. This tool estimates the revenue impact that could result from improving your mobile site speed.

These two tools could prove especially useful for e-commerce websites. However, mobile optimisation continues to be a crucial part of any digital marketing campaign.

Google’s Multifaceted Featured Snippets are Rolling Out

Last month, we talked about some new features for Google’s featured snippets. One month later, we’re finally seeing them in action.

The multifaceted featured snippets show up for broader queries that can have more than one interpretation. For these types of searches, Google SERPs will come up with more than one featured snippet. The snippet will include a rewritten/paraphrased version of the question to provide more relevant answers according to user intent.
